Introduction to the method of Pierre Bourdieu

Abstract

The aim of the following work is to perform a reflection about the research methodology applied and spread by Pierre Bourdieu during his career. Starting from a bibliographical compilation, we shall approach some fundamental concepts to those who seek to master the way Bourdieu performed his Sociology and moved across several knowledge areas such as Anthropology, Statistics and Linguistics. We shall use some texts that deal more specifically with the method and epistemology question, such as A Profissão de Sociólogo (1999), Introdução a uma Sociologia Reflexiva (2002), Os usos sociais da ciência (2004), and other works that expand these notions through the definition of some essential concepts, such as capital, field and habitus: O campo científico (1983), A gênese dos conceitos de habitus e de campo (2002).
