Interface between religion and politics in Brazil: thinking through public politics for deepening human rights

The Brazilian society is composed by a plurality of religions, whose express themselves by all the social spaces, however, some of the so called universal religions historically had shown themselves engaged on public debates through theirs representants, which includes religious organizations’ leaders and elected politicians, entering in those debates with their theological conceptions, struggling to make prevalent in politics scenario and in public sectors antagonistic visions to respect for otherness and to guidelines which focus the respect to human’ dignity and the fight against prejudice - constitutionally warranted by the Human Rights. Through a brief bibliographic discussion of works on Religion’ Sociology and Public Politics, the present article reflects on affirmative action’s politics who aim to warrant the free faith’ right, considering the social and religious configuration of Brazil, strongly influenced by Christianity, especially the public education and school environment to effective those politics.
