The materiality of the immaterial work: a theoretical analysis

This article seeks to address the discussions about the thesis developed on the “Immaterial Labor,” a category that emerged from the changes in the working world, the growth of service and products industry that does not result in the production of tangible or quantifiable goods. From this context, some authors begin to deal with these changes as overcoming the antagonistic and exploitative conditions from the rule of capital, as well as the lag of the labor theory of value. Given this, the need of a conceptual re-questioning of the theories about work and production value processes will be raised, enquiring the immaterial character of this new category and its relation to the reproduction of capital.
