This paper presents the trajectory and experiences of a community leadership from Sao Paulo’s slum since his participation in a Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC), through entry in the Movimento de Defesa do Favelado (MDF), until his recent appointment to a commissioned post in sub-prefecture of the district and his acting in this space. Following the biography of my interlocutor, concerning his flowing and displacements between social movements field and institutional policy, I also set to show how this leadership conciliates different repertoires of action among the social networks and spaces in which he circulates and participates. More than establishing divisions or demarcate borders between the government and social movements, is through the action of a specific actor that I try to show how these spheres are in a constant interaction, negotiation and conflict making this relationship being established and/or reified in each context and political situation.
