Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the relation between invented identities in football from a relational perspective based on Ingoldian theory, specially. For this purpose, we chose an event – the football matches that occurred in the 8th-finals of Libertadores America Cup between Clube Atlético Mineiro and Racing Club de Avallaneda – which we selected the presence of a character: the Argentinean goalkeeper Sebastián Saja. On this way, we noticed how the persona is creatively crafted for a myriad based on media reports from other analysis, like journalists, chroniclers, athletes’ testimonials, other decades, etc. Indeed, through this polyphony, we think in football as a joint of alive things, where not just the professional way of a football player is flexible, but also the diverse elements related with the sport, like the active reading about the regional identities designed for the media individuals.
