Abstract

In this article I intend to, by developing a case study about the Pati Valley and the Chapada Diamantina National Park, explore several features of the relation between the National Parks and the Ecotourism. Observing several tourists` trip accounts about their experience in the Pati Valley, I will stress a pair of tendencies of the capitalism of the turn of the century XX to XXI, the experience economy and the popularization of the sustainability discourse, that might have contributed to the popularization of the ecotourism, by the 1980s onwards.
