Economics of language in Russia

Abstract

Economics of Language is a new area of study regarding a set of subjects, including the impact of language skills on revenue and business, the expenses and advantages of language planning options, the protection of minority languages, and so forth. It applies to the study of language policy. In the present study, it is aimed at analyzing the characteristics of economics of language in Russia. To gratify that aim, a descriptive approach is utilized and several relevant documents and articles are taken into consideration. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that fluency in a dominant language seems crucial to economic prosperity and raise economic efficiency. Having said that, keeping linguistic diversity holds value given the fact that language is an emblem of people's culture.
