ICT in times of quarantine

"Confined we disconnect from the social to reconnect with the family and our inner home.

The purpose of the ICT is to create affective bonds with each other is to bring people together when, adverse situations separate them.

The moment is for us to exercise our creativity and weave bonds of solidarity."

Adalberto Barreto (2020)

[10]

This dossier aims to be a collection of reports of experiences on Online Integrative Community Therapy that occurred during the period from 2020 to 2022, in Brazil and in several countries, the result of a global humanitarian action in a period experienced with so many fragilities, emotional and social fractures derived from the COVID-19 pandemic.

ICT is considered an advanced psychosocial approach by the Ministry of Health, a collective therapeutic practice that operates in open space and involves community members in the construction of solidary social networks for the promotion of life and mobilization of resources and competencies of individuals, families and communities. It is not a psychotherapeutic process, but rather a group therapeutic act in any context and life cycles, with individual knowledge being the elements for the construction of social ties, socio-emotional support, exchange of experiences and reduction of social isolation.

Since 2017, it has been part of the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC) in the SUS, a transversal policy that covers all levels of care, primarily in Primary Health Care (PHC). Included among the 29 Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health (PICS) that are therapeutic resources that seek the prevention of diseases and the recovery of health, which considers the individual in the physical, psychic, emotional and social spheres (https://www.gov.br/saude/pt-br/composicao/saps/pics).

TCI has already disseminated to several countries South America, Central, Europe, Africa, with operations in several areas: health, education, social assistance, communities and the private sector. We invite you to know our first Dossier: https://periodicos.fclar.unesp.br/tes/article/view/14303 - v.16, n. esp.1, Set. (2020) - The value of Integrative Community Therapy (ICT) in Brazil and worldwide: Possibilities, impacts and perspectives.

Collective health (CS) is a field of knowledge that articulates disciplined and undisciplined knowledge and practices. When working with social determinants, it also assumes the dialogue about the ways of living and caring for life. The ICT, especially from the perspective of shared, respectful listening, attentive to the uniqueness of those who speak, has contributed to resonances and the possibility of reinventing experiences and experiences with health and disease in the territory inhabited by those who present themselves at each moment.

Since 2004, it has an association - ABRATECOM, responsible for recognizing, accrediting and legitimizing integrative community therapists and institutions, Poles, that carry out Courses/Training in Integrative Community Therapy and Self-Esteem Rescue Techniques - Caring for the Caregiver. Currently with its 46 Training Centers in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and the Dominican Republic, a web of knowledge and plural actors is configured with care actions that carry the TCI brand.

During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in the midst of multiple challenges, in lockdown, the Network of Integrative Community Therapists of ABRATECOM, with its executive board, CDC deliberative council and scientific committee, together with Professor Adalberto Barreto and APSBRA- Brazilian Association of Social Psychiatry, promptly organized and formalized a protocol of action:  Guidelines for conducting Integrative Community Therapy online,  document that validated and guided the online ICTs carried out in Brazil and in other countries.

The network of integrative trainers and therapists interconnected, managed to cross the fabric of insecurity, unpredictability, negationism, and allowed creativity to present itself along with the knowledge built with the collective.

The reported experiences show the impacts of this silenced humanitarian action that now with this dossier takes life and colors, validation and materialization.

Enjoy and value this important movement of ICT online around the world, an action that led to welcoming, extended boundaries of collective care in mental / emotional health in various territories.
