Abstract

Many reserches show the prevalence of childhood mental disorders. It is estimated that there are 23,2% of such disorders and 10% are moderate or severe cases (requiring specialized treatment). These data suggest that health professionals need to know about Development Psychology. The aims of this work are: to introduce a brief historic view of childhood mental health and development and recent theoretical tendencies. These theories approach mental health in an interationist view. This includes resiliency and vulnerability concepts.
