Abstract

Intimate partner violence in the aging of LGBTQIA+ older adults remains underdeveloped in the literature, despite the growth of studies on intimate partner violence in LGBTQ+ populations and on aging, sexuality, and later-life vulnerabilities. This article presents a critical narrative review, qualitative in approach, based on 19 publications from 2011 to 2025, organized into three analytical axes. The analysis shows that the topic is constructed at the intersection of intimate partner violence in LGBTQ+ populations, LGBTQIA+ aging, and elder abuse among sexual and gender minorities. The findings point to multiple layers of invisibility and institutional insufficiency. The field requires more specific empirical research, conceptual refinement, and institutionally competent responses.
