RPGE – Online Journal of Educational Policy and Management (A3) – Commitment to Open Science and Quality in Scientific Editing

The Online Journal of Educational Policy and Management (RPGE) is a Continuous Publication (since 2022) of the College of Sciences and Letters – FCLAr/Unesp – Qualis A3 (2017–2020), and of the NEAME Research Group, managed by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Sebastião de Souza Lemes.

The Ibero-American Publisher of Education provides full support for the publication of scientific articles in the Online Journal of Educational Policy and Management (A3), indexed in JCR Web of Science and classified as A3 (2017–2020). Our mission is to ensure that academic knowledge is widely disseminated, following the principles of Open Science, Open Access, and Ethics in Scientific Publishing.

 

Commitment to Open Science and Ethics in Publishing

The Online Journal of Educational Policy and Management (A3) adopts editorial policies aligned with Open Science, promoting transparency, collaboration, and reproducibility in scientific research. We strictly follow academic integrity and ethics guidelines based on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and other regulatory bodies:

  • Open Access: All articles published in RPGE are freely available, with no financial or institutional barriers, expanding research impact.

  • Copyright: The journal uses open licenses, allowing authors to retain rights over their

  • Academic Integrity: All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review to ensure impartiality and scientific rigor.

 

Editorial Responsibility and Sustainability of Open Access

To ensure the quality and sustainability of publications, the editorial process management of the Online Journal of Educational Policy and Management (A3) is under the responsibility of the Ibero-American Publisher of Education. Thus, the journal reserves the right to publish only manuscripts that have passed editorial review.

Maintaining editorial activities in a high-quality Open Access model requires continuous infrastructure and resources, including:

  • Language review, translation, and formatting;
  • Layout and electronic publishing (DOI, XML, HTML, ePUB);
  • Metadata curation and standardization for international indexers;
  • Scientific outreach and video editing to promote published articles, management of social media, and other scientific marketing services.

Although the public funding model for editorial activity in Brazil is globally recognized, it is still insufficient to cover all demands of a high-impact scientific journal. Therefore, RPGE constantly seeks support calls from the Research Dean’s Office at Unesp (PROPe Unesp) and CNPq, ensuring that part of the editorial services is funded by these institutions, although not sufficient for full scientific editing processing.

 

What is included in the editorial process?

The editorial costs of the Revista online de Política e Gestão Educacional (A3) are the author’s responsibility and must be paid directly to the Ibero-American Publisher of Education, covering:

  • Text review after modifications required during the evaluation process;
  • Article formatting and normalization according to ABNT/APA standards;
  • Full translation into English, and into Portuguese for articles originally in English or Spanish;
  • Generation of ePUB and XML versions, ensuring compatibility with indexing databases;
  • Scientific video editing for article promotion;
  • DOI (Digital Object Identifier) validation and maintenance;
  • Metadata curation and article updates in the OJS (Open Journal System) platform.

Support for Open Science, encouraging practices such as preprints and data sharing.

 

Production and Editorial Costs

  • International submissions: USD 975, equivalent to R$ 7.800,00 (fees and federal taxes)

  • Additional page cost: 175 USD per extra page

The editorial model of RPGE has been bilingual since 2018 and fully so since 2019, focused on dissemination and scientific communication.
