1. Institutional Principles

DOXA – Brazilian Journal of Psychology and Education adopts immediate Open Access and Open Science as structural principles of its editorial policy, understanding that scientific knowledge must be accessible, ethical, transparent, responsible, and socially committed.

The journal recognizes that strengthening science depends on the democratization of knowledge, editorial transparency, scientific integrity, and broad circulation of scholarly production.

All content published by DOXA is made freely available to the public without financial, technical, or temporal barriers to access, reading, downloading, sharing, and academic use, while respecting copyright, adopted licenses, and scientific best practices.

2. Open Access

DOXA adopts the immediate Open Access model, allowing full and free access to published scientific content.

The journal understands Open Access as an essential mechanism for:

  • democratization of scientific knowledge;
  • expansion of academic and social impact of research;
  • strengthening education, science, and academic training;
  • international circulation of scientific production.

No fees are charged for access, reading, or downloading published articles.

3. Open Science

DOXA recognizes Open Science as a contemporary practice for strengthening scholarly communication, promoting:

  • scientific integrity;

The journal may adopt Open Science practices, including:

  • transparency regarding editorial workflows;
  • availability of metadata and persistent identifiers.

Adoption of these practices depends on the current editorial policy, the nature of the submission, and the consent of the participants involved.

4. Copyright and Authors’ Rights

Copyright of published articles remains with the authors.

By submitting and publishing in DOXA, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license for:

  • publication;
  • editing;
  • scientific dissemination;
  • indexing;

Authors assume full responsibility for the published content, including authorship, scientific integrity, originality, and ethical compliance.

The journal does not tolerate:

  • unethical use of Artificial Intelligence.

7. Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

DOXA recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence tools and technologies in academic and editorial contexts.

Authors, reviewers, and editors remain fully responsible for the scientific content produced and published.

The use of AI must:

  • be ethical, transparent, and responsible;
  • be disclosed when applicable;
  • not replace human authorship;
  • not compromise originality, scientific rigor, or academic integrity.

AI tools may not be recognized as authors or co-authors of scientific works.

8. Editorial Sustainability

DOXA recognizes that Open Access and Open Science do not eliminate the costs of scientific publishing.

The journal’s editorial sustainability is linked to:

  • technological and editorial infrastructure.

The journal operates with institutional and editorial transparency regarding its processes and policies.

9. Digital Preservation and Scientific Visibility

10. Policy Review

This Open Access and Open Science Policy may be reviewed every 6 (six) months according to:

  • updates to DOAJ and COPE guidelines;
  • advances in Open Science;
  • developments in editorial best practices;
  • institutional and scientific demands.
