Abstract

This study examines the educational thought of Phan Bội Châu to assess its relevance for ongoing educational reform in contemporary Vietnam. Grounded in dialectical and historical materialism, the research employs a combination of methodological approaches, including logical–historical analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, and comparative perspectives within the philosophy of history. The findings highlight the core values and reform-oriented ideas in Phan Bội Châu’s thought, emphasizing their potential contributions to shaping strategic directions for comprehensive educational transformation. In the context of international integration, although Vietnam has achieved significant progress in expanding and democratizing education, persistent limitations remain. This study argues that revisiting and critically interpreting historical educational ideas can provide meaningful insights for addressing current challenges. By clarifying the theoretical and practical significance of these perspectives, the research contributes to enhancing awareness of the role of progressive thought in aligning educational development with Vietnam’s broader socio-economic goals.
