Abstract

This article analyzes Amefricanity as a political, epistemic, and aesthetic category based on the work of Lélia Gonzalez. Methodologically, it is a qualitative, theoretical-bibliographic, and interpretative study. The investigation is grounded in the conceptual analysis of Gonzalez’s intellectual production, in dialogue with debates on the coloniality of power, the geopolitics of knowledge, racism, whitening, mestizaje, and the myth of racial democracy. Language is highlighted as a field of dispute, especially through the notion of pretuguês, as well as the recognition of artistic, religious, and literary practices as living archives of the diaspora. It is concluded that Amefricanity remains relevant as an analytical key for interpreting inequalities, resistances, and cultural productions in the Global South.
