Abstract

The article deals with the theoretical framework and the modus operandi prevailing in the World Bank research departments, especially those concerning the educational area, sphere in which this financial institution comes up insinuating itself as a central organism in the formulation of the new global educational policies for the countries of capitalist periphery. Grounding on bibliographical and documentary sources from that corporation and on academic critic literature about it, the study leads to results that indicate, besides its ideological character, the horizon narrowness, the epistemological limitations and the strategic functionality to the maintenance of neoliberal paradigms of educational research conducted at the bank or its commissioned researchers.
